Ever wonder what happens when you 'crack' your knuckles? As a chiropractor this could be one of the most common questions that I get. Simply put, gas is being released in the joint (from a vacuum effect).

Then, the follow up question I get is: “If I ‘crack’ the knuckles in my hands a lot, overtime does it lead to arthritis?” The answer is no! There is little to no reliable scientific evidence linking knuckle ‘cracking’ to arthritis or other health related issues.
