What is Spinal Stenosis?
Degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis is a consequence of progressive wear and tear arthritis of the lower spine.
Narrowing in the area can cause compression of the spinal nerves, leading to; low back pain, pain/numbness/weakness in the buttock or leg, and difficulties with standing or walking. Spinal stenosis is a leading cause of pain, disability, and loss of independence in older adults. Stenosis is not curable.
Self management
Developed by researchers at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto, the Spinal Stenosis Boot Camp approach focuses on providing people with mild to moderate symptoms of stenosis the knowledge, skill and self confidence to self-manage with their condition.
The Boot Camp is a six week training program. This service option provides;

- Targeted home exercises
- Body repositioning and self monitoring instruction to maximize function,Targeted manual therapy, and Coaching on behavioural change, for sustainable benefit.
